O bento?

A few days ago I finished watching Aishiteru ze Baby. It is the cutest anime ever! Because of the show, I somewhat got obsessed with packed lunches…and I went on a search hoping to find a Japanese style lunch box. Welllllllllllll I found them! They’re called “Bento”s. And they are adorable. I ordered this one:

from www.bentoyum.com. It’s supposed to come in two weeks and it costed me $35. I found a bunch of stuff on ebay too but buying all those parts separately plus shipping would have been over $35. And it was too complicated to buy over ebay anyway. I’m going to start using my bento box as soon as it comes, and then during the summer I’ll get fancier with my lunches and add stuff like:

Ok now I’m really, really poor. No more spending!

I’m so excited to get my BENTO BOX though! For now, while I wait patiently…err??…I’m going to make due with a normal lunch container…but I’m going all out when I finally get my BENTO BOX. BENNTO BOXXX!!! Yes.

On another note, money. Money Money Money. Well, let’s start with my laptop. It really sucks so I was thinking of getting a MacBook Air. Now then, I’ve been giving Mother my extra scholarship money, and after some back and forth it was decided that she will let me use next semester’s scholarship money to buy the MacBook Air, as long as after that I continue to give her my scholarship money. But I also was able to convince her that money that I get from working is mine, I get to keep it, no question. So fine, she’s letting me keep my work money if I give her all my scholarship money, OK, she probably thought I wasn’t going to make that much anyway. But now that I realized it, when I’m not in school I never use my laptop. The last time I used it was when Dolores and I were watching a scary movie and we didn’t want to sit at my computer, we wanted to watch the movie lying down. Otherwise, all I use the laptop for is when I’m in school, and as long as I get internet at the student center then I’m pretty much good. It’s just slow, but it’s usable. So I don’t really need to get a new one right? And my cell phone. It’s shitty. It always hangs up on people and it’s cracked. I was going to get a new one before the summer started, but I’d have to buy it unlocked and that’s at least a hundred dollars. Then I realized that…why do I need to get a new cell phone? The only person that I have long enough conversations with for the phone to have a chance to hang up on is Reed. And I always talk to him at night so no one’s going to see the cell phone. And Reed gets the phone being shitty thing so we always just call each other back. Other people don’t talk to me long enough to be hung up on. And the only other thing I do is text. So why do I need an expensive new phone that can take pictures, play music, take video, blah blah, when I already have a camera, ipod, and camcorder? So I don’t really need a new cell phone.

What else is there for me to buy besides those two things? Nothing. I think it might sound as if I’m just trying to reason myself out of spending money because I’m poor, and in a way I am, but I also think that I need to grow out of spending money to look good.

After doing some calculations, I realized that I’m going to be making a lot of money this summer. These calculations were done without taking in the raise that they’re supposed to give me some time soon for being on the job for a year. I took off the days that I’m going to be in Missouri and I took off three days for beach trips. Or just if I want to go into DC for a day with Reed and Cuong or something. So all summer minus those few days, at six hours a day, at a little less than 10 bucks an hour, by the time school starts I’ll have quiteeee a few thousand dollars. Of course something’ll probably happen and I won’t be able to work all the days that I planned, but for the days that I don’t, I’m pretty sure I have enough annual and sick leave left so that I won’t be totally unpaid for when I miss work. So overall no matter what i’ll be making a few thousand dollars, and I use “few” lightly. That money is mine. Mother is not getting a cent, at least not the way she’s getting my scholarhip money. So I’m excited! I’m glad I realized that I don’t have to buy the laptop or cell phone. It’s just frivolous I think and I’ve moved beyond that, thank goodness. I’m going to try and lose a lot of wait before school starts next year so I guess I’ll have to go shopping for new clothes if mine no longer fit, but then again I like wearing the big baggy clothes and I don’t care what boy thinks what. They make me comfortable so if I do lose a lot of weight and end up having to go buy clothes, they’ll probably only be jeans and pants and skirts and shorts and stuff. Not too bad.

Excited much? I think these next few months should be nice.

If anyone has extra time they should go watch Aishiteru ze Baby. It is the cutest show! Maybe I’ll make an entertainment post about it later. For now just know that it’s the kind of show to make you feel good.
